I came across this post while pioedrnng what to rename my band in RB2. This is turning out to be much harder than I had originally thought. I agree about the creativity of children when naming things. When you said Eye of the Tiger had been played to death in your home, I instantly felt your pain. Same here in my home, actually. I think Peppermint Toes is a lovely name. Your kids sound very cute. Rhonda

LOVE the reframing of "change" (which people truly do resist, just out of instinct) to a mere "adjusting of priorities." Sounds so much easier, and pleasant, and even intelligent. Mr, Power, your blogs are a pleasure to read, and I walked away from this one with a smile on my face. Thanks.

I like your blog post on change. I have been trying to get my priorities right. That seems to be an ongoing cyclical battle. So much of life has to do with balance and learning to balance many things without letting some items fall off and break. I often find myself spending time fixing broken things – damaged relationships, late bills, unfiled paperwork, forgotten appointments…. Then I think, “It would have been so much easier if I had just kept these things in balance to begin with.”

I also wanted to tell you that you have inspired me to start journaling again. I kept a journal mainly of funny things that the kids said and did and major life events. I stopped about 10 years ago. Reading your blog reminded me of the cathartic effect that writing can have. So – I have not actually started writing yet but I just bought a new journal today.

Mark,
This is one of my favorite posts. I LOVE the idea of a Kumon program for love-! Why not? We do learn love, and we can love better and more with intention and effort (where does this crazy idea come from that love isn't love if it doesn't just magically "show up"?!) Maybe love is a discipline practiced like a fine martial art. Or a performing art. Where the more you do it, the better you become, the more beauty emerges. Something I'll be thinking about all day.
